Note: This Giveaway is closed. Congrats to Carmen T. whose suggestion of The Boleyn Inheritance was selected at by the Random Integer Generator. I’m making this a monthly event, with the next giveaway on August 1. Details here.
Well, folks, I have a serious problem. I am a book addict. I can’t pass a book sale, a giveaway, or a book swapping site without aquiring one, two, or twenty new books, and my shelves are full! So I am trying to read through my collection instead of going to the library or, God forbid, acquiring more books. (Nothing against the library, you understand, it’s one of my favorite places, but, alas, the great books I find there are part of the problem!)
So, here’s how you can help. Take a look at my book list and tell me what you think I should read next. On Sunday, I’ll choose one suggestion at random, read the book, post a review, and pass the book along to the lucky person who suggested it.
A few caveats:
- I generally read at least a book a week, so you won’t have to wait long for me to finish and send the book to you, but if you choose something really long, say The Way We Live Now, you’ll have to be patient.
- I get a lot of books from used-book sales and book-swapping sites, so many books on my list are used–and some are not very gently used. I make no guarantees on book condition, but if something looks like it’s on its last read, I’ll let you know so you can make an alternate choice.
- I have several book series on my list. If you suggest one of those and win, you’ll get the first book only.
- If you happen to be a particularly brilliant recommender and select something that I decide, upon reading, that I simply cannot part with, you’ll get a new copy of your own!
The deadline to make your suggestion is Sunday, July 13, at noon U.S. Eastern Standard Time. I’ll announce the winner Sunday afternoon. Good luck!
I’m torn between suggesting either Almost French by Sarah Turnbull or The Last Single Woman in America by Cindy Guidry. They both sound fun! :) Hope you think so too!
I think you should read On Chesil Beach!
I think you should read:
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister by Gregory Macguire
Slaughterhouse 5. Just your level of weird and funny.
God’s Secretaries by Adam Nicholson … because it sounds interesting and I want to read it! :-)
Thank you for stopping by Up For Grabs. Your support is appreciated and your contest has been posted ~ Marcia
Hmm… I’m thinking “The Boleyn Inheritance” by Philippa Gregory. Saw the movie, “The Other Boleyn Girl” starring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman– which is the start ?. Not even sure if it’s a series..
I think The Memory Keeper’s Daughter. It looks like a really good book to me!!
Slam by Nick Hornby! I’ve been reading lots of reviews on it lately. :)
For a lot of fun, read “To Say Nothing of the Dog” by Connie Willis! (try “3 Men in a Boat” first, if you can) I really enjoyed these two books.
So many good ones! How about The Post Birthday World by Lionel Shriver. Her first book was SO good! Cool idea by the way:)
This is a hard pick but I’m going with Heartburn by Nora Ephron!
I think you should read “The Boleyn Inheritance” by Philippa Gregory.
I think you should read the 13th tale, always read good things about it.
Slam by Nick Hornby, definitely!
