BBAW Giveaway: A Book a Day

EDITED TO ADD: This giveaway is now closed. Thanks to all the participants. Winners are listed below!

For Book Blogger Appreciation week, I want to give all of you an opportunity to share your favorite blogs, so I’m hosting a book giveaway in which you can do just that. The prize is up to you! Last year, I had such fun with this giveaway that I knew I had to repeat it.

To enter, leave a comment with in which you tell me about (1) a favorite book blog and (2) one book that you’ve learned about on a blog and really want to read.

Each day during BBAW, I’ll choose one winner around 10 pm EST, making a grand total of five winners. If your comment is chosen, you’ll win a copy of the book that you mentioned in your comment. (Limit $25 USD.) This contest is open internationally. I’ll choose the final winner on Friday at 10 pm EST. All winners selected at random.org.

Only one entry per person. Although readers who enter early in the week will be entered in all remaining drawings for the week, you can only win once!

I feel I’m going to be asking qu.1 all week, so today I will choose Claire’s blog A Captive Reader. And the book I saw on a blog (maybe yours, actually!) and want is A Truth Universally Acknowledged: 33 Reasons Why We Can’t Stop Reading Jane Austen!
    x

  4. Okay, I’ll talk about Fyrefly’s Book Blog. Nicki’s blog is lovely to look at, organized, and her reviews are succinct but deep enough to cover any problems or any joyous things she’s found in a book. She also created the Book Blogger Search Engine, which I use weekly.

Her cheerleading for Guy Gavriel Kay has made me want to read Under Heaven, one of his historical fantasies, even though I didn’t like The Summer Tree as much as I thought I would have.

  5. Rebecca Reid says:

Amanda at the Zen Leaf is a favorite book blogger — and she really enjoyed The Tenant of Wildfell Hall so I’d really love to win that one.

I think you guys wrote about that recently too? Right? You’re a favorite blog of mine too, of course.

  6. Tony says:

One I didn’t mention in my post earlier today is Claire at ‘Paperback Reader’, a most eclectic and articulate reader/writer :)

A book, you say? Hmm. How about Rohinton Mistry’s ‘Tales from Firozsha Baag’ then? ;)

  7. Caitie F says:

A favorite? But I have so many! I will go with one that I have discovered relatively recently — Angieville.

I have seen a lot of interesting things about Low Red Moon by Ivy Devlin and really want to check it out!

  8. Trisha says:

What a great way to host a giveaway! I cheated a bit and talked about two new book blogs for today’s prompt, but over at Amy Reads, there’s an overload of books I want to read. I think the one that stands out is From the Beast to the Blonde by Marina Warner.

  9. Erin says:

I have recently discovered Minnesota Reads and have been loving the blog. Not just for Minnesotans!

A book I’ve been hearing about and would love to read is Finny by Justin Kramon!

Thanks so much for this giveaway!

  13. Jenny says:

I have ridiculously many favorites, including y’all of course! One I really enjoy is A Book Blog. Period (http://historyofshe.wordpress.com); She always makes me smile. And a book I’ve read about on a book blog–I’m rather longing for What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt, which Andi at Estella’s Revenge mentioned recently. It sounds great!

  14. Lu says:

How about Jenny’s Books who posted right before me? She’s a fabulous book blogger! I always love her posts and she’s a very honest reviewer.

So this one has been everywhere, but I didn’t *want* to read it until I heard an interview with Jonathan Franzen on NPR. So I’m picking Freedom by Franzen. I’ve totally ignored most of the hype, so I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.

  15. Steph says:

I love Nicola’s blog, Vintage Reads (http://vintagereads.blogspot.com/). It’s got such a wonderful selection of oft neglected women writers, and if a book blog can be soothing, this is it!

One book that she highlighted that I’d love to read is Nightingale Wood by Stella Gibbons. I think it’s just recently been reissued in the U.S. after being out of print for quite a while… Here’s hoping for a Stella Gibbons renaissance!
